A shots fired call early Wednesday morning led Kankakee City Police to find a person had been stabbed. According to reports, city police responded to the shots fired call just after one yesterday morning in the 100 block of North Evergreen Avenue. When officers arrived, one spent shell casing was found on the east side of the street in front of the house along with a large pool of blood with splatter that lead to the front door. A resident of the home told officers the blood belonged to a 25-year-old man who had been stabbed and that he was not home the time the incident took place. The resident alleges the suspect is the victim’s girlfriend. The victim was driven by his friends to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officers spoke with the man there and could see a puncture wound to his left side abdomen and a laceration below the lower side of his lip. The victim and his friends refused to make statements to police about the incident.
