Trial Date set for Burkes Accused in February Momence Murder

A trial date has been set for the man accused in the murder of 30-year-old Courtney Drysdale at a bar in Momence February second. 47-year-old Julius E. Burkes Junior appeared in Kankakee County Court via Zoom this morning with his attorney Jamie Boyd while Judge Bill Dickenson announced the trial would begin May 18th. A discovery status hearing will be held April 7th to make sure everything is on track before the trial starts. Judge Dickenson ruled that Burkes will continue to be detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center at this time.
