Kankakee City Police Make Arson Arrest

Kankakee City Police have made an arrest in connection to Tuesday morning’s alleged arson of a home on North Greenwood Avenue. According to a press release, 24-year-old Nazhai S. Hill voluntarily turned herself in at the Kankakee Police department Tuesday afternoon. A subsequent investigation alleges Hill had been in a relationship with the 35-year-old man who lives at the home in the 800 Block of North Evergreen Avenue. Hill reportedly forced her way into the home this morning to find the victim with another woman. A physical altercation followed and during the incident, Hill allegedly caused Significant damage to the home including breaking windows. Hill apparently doused the victim with lighter fluid and attempted to set him on fire. The man was able to flee before a fire was set to the detached garage.  Damage to the home is estimated at around 40-thousand dollars with the loss of the vehicles around 30-thousand. Hill has been charged with attempted murder, arson, and home invasion.
