Good Samaritans may have saved the life of a Lowell, Indiana Police officers Wednesday. In a Facebook Post, Lowell Police say their officer was flagged down by a business owner in the 100 block of Deanna Drive in Lowell just before 10 Wednesday morning, because the business owner had seen a man with open alcohol. Upon checking the area, the officer made contact with 26-year-old Ethan Patrick Meyer of Lowell and when the officer got out of his car to talk to Meyer, the man allegedly rushed the officer while pulling a large kitchen knife from his waistband and threatening to kill the officer. The two reported fought over the knife and when Meyer dropped the knife he allegedly tried to grab the officers gun. That’s when good Samaritans intervened and helped the officer take Meyer into custody. Lowell Police say prosecutors have charged Meyer with six felonies, including attempted murder and battery with a deadly weapon.
