Kankakee City Police were called to a battery at a business on the city’s westside Sunday. According to reports, officers responded to a business in the 200 block of West Jeffery Street around 2:30 Sunday afternoon. When police arrived, they learned a man punched the store owner after he told the customer they do not sell alcohol at their store. The man also said, “You need to go back to your country.” before fleeing the story on a gray bicycle, with a black garbage bag, heading northbound on South Washington Avenue. The man was described as white with a gray beard, short hair, and wearing a red shirt. The store owner suffered a bloody nose and did not want to press charges against the man. He did request to have the guy banned from the store though. City police are still looking for the man.
