Apr 6, 2022 | 11:50 AM

We now know the name of the Coal City man killed when his pick-up was hit by a train in Wilmington township earlier this week. Will County Coroner Laurie Summers identifies the man as Dennis J. Siebersma of Coal City. Siebersma was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at Murphy and Cooper Roads just before 3:30 Monday afternoon. The Will County Sheriff’s Office say Siebersma’s  pickup may have gotten stuck in a gravel area on the north side of the crossing before it was hit by the BNSF freight train. Sierbersma was thrown from the truck during the crash. Summers say a preliminary autopsy showed the 64-year-old suffered multiple injuries during the crash, but her office is waiting for police, autopsy and toxicology reports before issuing a final cause of death. Reports say bells, lights and gates were working property at the intersection where the crash occurred.
