Grundy County adds license reading cameras

Apr 6, 2022 | 11:51 AM

Grundy County Sheriff Ken Briley says his department has started to use automated license plate readers. In a press release, the sheriff’s office says they have 10 mini cameras mounted on poles with solar panels placed throughout Grundy County. The release says the cameras are meant to share real-time data with deputies about stolen vehicles passing through Grundy County  and will not be used for traffic enforcement. Data collected by the cameras will be automatically deleted every 30 days and Grundy County officials stress none of the data will be sold or shared with third parties. Another 10 cameras are expected to be deployed by Grundy County in 2024.
