Road Construction starts in Kankakee County

Apr 18, 2022 | 9:49 AM

It’s officially road construction season and a number of projects in Kankakee County are going to cause some travel headaches. The Illinois Department of Transportation is set to start work on the Armour Road bridge replacement project today. IDOT says work will start on the westbound lanes, meaning traffic will be down to one lane each direction on the eastbound side of the bridge, with the eastbound lanes to be worked on after the westbound lanes are done. The project is expected to take about a year-and-a-half and cost the state nearly six-million-dollars. If you normally cross the bridge to get to and from where you’re going, you might want to look for an alternate route.
