During Tuesday’s meeting of the Kankakee County Board’s Community Services Committee, the committee heard about a proposed community needs assessment. County Board Chairman Andy Wheeler says the assessment is the first step in determining where federal American Rescue Plan Act funds can be used to help the social structure in Kankakee County
Wheeler says the process will help the County Board decide where best to invest not only ARPA funds, but future funding as well
Wheeler says the process is expected to take most of the summer, with an eye toward not only immediate needs in the county, but also where the county might best put it’s money in the next decade or so. The committee forwarded the community needs assessment recommendation to the full board for consideration. If approved, the assessment is expected to cost the county less than 90-thousand-dollars, which has been earmarked from the county’s federal ARPA funds.
