Romo said last night that with the surplus funds the village will complete renovation work costing about 750-thousand dollars on a building at 428 West Broadway that will become a community center complete with kitchen facilities which can be used by various community groups and private gatherings. The building will also be the new home of the Bradley Bourbonnais Senior Club which lost a place to meet when the village announced that property on Newtowne Drive would be converted to use as a new fire station. On that subject, Romo announced that all bids had been let on the new fire station and it is expected to be up and running by the end of the year.
With all the good news financially, for the second year in a row the Government Finance Officers Association has given Bradley a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, which director Romo says is a good indicator of high standards in financial planning and transparency.
