Bradley man arrested for alleged car theft

Manteno Police report the arrest of a Bradley man after he allegedly stole a car in the village Monday afternoon. According to reports, officers were called to a gas station on North Locust in Manteno, where a man told police he’d gone into the station and came out to see someone pulling away in his car. The victim told police the alleged thief appeared to be having a hard time driving the car. With the help of civilians, officers began to track the car which appeared to be headed north at a high rate of speed. A short time later, Manteno Police were told the car had crashed in the University Park area and the alleged offender was in custody after trying to run from police. Reports say University Park police had to tase 26-year-old Aaron E. Dantzler to take him into custody. Dantzler was checked out by medical personnel, then was transported to the Jerome Combs Detention Center – charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle.
