Kankakee Unemployment Up May 2022

Kankakee’s unemployment rate for May was up slightly over last year.  The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports Kankakee jobless rate was 6.2 percent for May, that’s up from the 6 percent in May of Last year.  The lowest unemployment rate in the state is in the Bloomington area at 4.1 percent, the highest is in Rockford at 8.3 percent.    Over the last year Kankakee County saw an increase of an estimated 600 jobs.
