Coroner releases preliminary cause of death in triple homicide

A preliminary cause of death has been released for the three men found shot in an apartment in the 600 block of West Merchant Street Wednesday afternoon. In a Facebook post, Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner says the autopsy showed 24-year-old Deontay M. Tyler died of a single gunshot wound, while both 27-year-old Malcolm Murray and 25-year-old Kyle M Washington-Haynes died of multiple gunshot wounds. Gessner says a final cause of death will be released once the results are in from toxicology tests.
