Kankakee Man Arrested in Chicago on Weapons Charges

A Kankakee man was arrested in Chicago over the weekend on weapons charges in connection with a shots fired incident on Division Street Saturday night as the bars were closing in which two women were injured.  Block Club Chicago is reporting that Jermaine T. Purdis was spotted carrying a gun and running from the scene by two police officers who were able to tackle Purdis.  Police did recover the weapon.  The women were outside waiting for a ridesharing pickup at the time.  They both suffered non-life threatening injuries.  Police do not believe they were the target.
