Kankakee County Board Executive Committee planning to develop dilapidated homes and businesses

At yesterday’s Kankakee County Board Executive Committee meeting, a plan was introduced to redevelop the county’s unused and dilapidated homes and businesses.   Kankakee County Board Chairman Andy Wheeler says it will start as a Land Bank partnership between the city of Kankakee and the county. Wheeler says the goal of the Land Bank would be to put itself out of business. The city has acquired a grant to fund the salary for an eventual executive director over the first two years.
