According to reports, officers were called to a home in the 900 block of West Merchant Street just before seven Friday morning for a suspected domestic dispute. Reports say officers were met at the door by 36-year-old Daniel Nunley who told police there wasn’t any problem. After removing Nunley from the home, a woman in the house told police she’d been in an argument with Nunley and he allegedly pulled a gun on her. Officer say they found a handgun stuck between the arm and cushion of a chair. Officers took Nunley into custody for aggravated assault with a firearm and possession of a defaced firearm among other charges.
Just before four Saturday afternoon, City Police responded to the area of 1900 East Court Street for a report of a disabled car. When they got there, officers say they spoke with 37-year-old Danny Sullivan who told officers the car had run out of gas and he was waiting on a friend to bring him some. A check turned up the car as having allegedly been stolen in Urbana. Sullivan was taken into custody by City police for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
