Gas prices are down again headed into the holiday weekend. Triple-A says the average cost for a gallon of regular no-lead gas in the State of Illinois is running four-dollars-14 cents, down two cents from yesterday and down a nickel in the past week. Still nearly 80 cents more than we were paying a year ago at this time.
In the Kankakee/Bradley area, a gallon of gas will set you back three-dollars-76 cents a gallon. It’s 3.72 in Iroquois County, 4.04 in Ford county and four-dollars even in Grundy County.
Across the border in Indiana – gas will set you back three-dollars 84 cents in Newton County, 3.94 in Benton County and 4.02 in Jasper County. Gas is 3.93 on average across the Hoosier State. Nationally a gallon of gas is running three-dollars-80 cents, for the last holiday weekend of the summer. Triple-A says they expect travel this weekend to rival that of Memorial Day weekend this year.
