Kankakee Unemployment in August Down from Last Year

The Illinois Department of Employment Security says jobs were up and unemployment was down from a year ago in all 14 of the state’s metro areas.  In Kankakee County the jobless rate came in at 5 .9 percent that is down from 6.5 percent in August of 2021, but up from the 5.3 percent recorded last month.  The quad cities have the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 3.8 percent, Rockford has the highest at 6.8 percent.  800 jobs have been created in Kankakee County over the last 12 months.
