The City of Kankakee will be hosting an informational meeting designed to give residents a chance to discuss the scope of the city’s home rule authority and how it is used. The session set for tonight at 7 in the 4th floor auditorium of the Kankakee Public Library will give residents a chance to ask city department heads questions after they give a presentation on how home rule taxing authority affects their ability to do their jobs. City voters will be asked to continue or stop home rule in Kankakee on the November 8 General Election Ballot.
