State Senator Patrick Joyce suggests changes to SAFE-T Act

A move is underway in Springfield to make changes to the bill commonly referred to as the SAFE-T Act. The bill passed by the legislature in 2021 is set to become law on January first. Law enforcement personnel around the state have been talking since the law’s passage about concerns they have regarding public safety if the law does go into effect. 40th District State Senator Patrick Joyce is co-sponsoring legislation he says will help

Senator Joyce says the bill would also add mental health issues to considerations in stalking cases. He adds he hopes the bill will come up for a vote in the November veto session
