High winds fan Brook IN field fire

Dry, windy conditions are blamed for the quick spread of a field fire near Brook Indiana Saturday. Brook-Iroquois Township Firefighters were called to the field on State Road 16 just east of 41 and, according to reports, the fire quickly jumped the road and spread into a standing corn field being used as a corn maze about a mile away. Patrons in the Kindig Corn Maze at the time had to be evacuated. Brook-Iroquois Firefighters were assisted by firefighters from around the area, as well as local farmers who used their tractors and discs to help put out the fire and make sure it didn’t spread any further.
