Nov 16, 2022 | 8:38 AM
About one hundred people turned out this afternoon in Bourbonnais for the long awaited ribbon cutting of the now restored old one room log schoolhouse. Bourbonnais Mayor Paul Shore says the project that rebuilt the structure, which was in use from 1837 to 1848, was a long time in the making.
The Mayor says he believes the kids of today will enjoy seeing how kids of the 1800’s received an education.
The project was a joint effort of the Village of Bourbonnais, The French Heritage Society and the Kankakee County Historical Society. The school house is located at the Adrien M. Richard Heritage Preserve at 698 Stratford Drive East in Bourbonnais.
