Two people were killed in a single vehicle accident Sunday morning on I-65 near Lowell. Indiana State police say a 2013 Chevy Cruse was northbound when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a large tree causing the vehicle to erupt in flames. Passersby were able to pull the driver from the burning vehicle but the flames were too intense to reach a passenger. Despite the heroics of those who stopped to help get the driver out of the burning vehicle, both the driver, the passenger and their three dogs died at the scene.
