Kankakee Tops State Unemployment Rate in February, 2nd Month in a Row

For the second consecutive month, the Kankakee County area leads the state in unemployment.  The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports a jobless rate of 6.5 percent in February. That’s slightly higher than the 6.4 percent of a year ago and a jump from the 6.1 percent last month.  The lowest unemployment rate in the state is in Bloomington at 4 percent.
