The latest reports from the US Drought Monitor puts Kankakee County solidly in the “moderate drought” category, with only the northwest corner of the county listed as “abnormally dry”. Most of Iroquois County is considered “abnormally dry” with the northwestern third of the county listed as being in “moderate drought”. All of Ford County and most of Livingston County remains in moderate drought. The entirety of Grundy County is considered “abnormally dry” in the latest report.
Over in Northwest Indiana, most of Newton County is considered to be in “moderate drought” with only the southwestern corner of the county listed as “abnormally dry”. Pretty much all of Jasper County is in moderate drought while most of Benton County is considered just “abnormally dry”.
