Wilmington woman dies in weekend crash

A single-car crash early Sunday morning took the life of a 29-year-old Wilmington woman. Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner says it was about 3:45 Sunday morning when the car driven by Callie Smith westbound on Route 17 near Limestone crossed the center line and went into the eastbound ditch where her car rolled. Gessner says it appears Smith was not buckled into the car at the time. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
