Custer Park fire damages home

Firefighters from Braidwood and surrounding communities fought a fire in rural Custer Park Saturday night. According to reports, it was about 9:45 Saturday evening when Braidwood fire was called to the unoccupied home on West River Road. When they got there, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the house. Help was called in from surrounding communities to truck in water, since there was no fire hydrant nearby. Reports say no other structures on the property were damaged and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
