It was standing room only for last night’s Bourbonnais Village Board meeting. A large crowd gathered last night to protest the supposed planned re-zoning of the old Cigna building on 45/52 from commercial to residential. There’d been a lot of play on social media recently that the building was being bought and the new owner planned to ask for re-zoning to make the building mixed use for commercial and residential, with speculation about what the residential part of the building might look like. Mayor Paul Schore told the assembled crowd that so far, no plan has been submitted to the village
Schore said if the potential buyer were to want to make a zoning change, those plans would have to be approved by the Village’s planning commission and the first time that might happen would be at the Commission’s October meeting. Schore reminded last night’s crowd that all Board committee meetings are open to the public and residents can come to those meetings to voice their concerns. Agendas for the meetings are posted on the Village of Bourbonnais’ website.
