As part of an ongoing firearms investigation Channahon Police along with an Illinois State Swat team raided a home in the 22,600 block of Deal Avenue about 5:30 this morning. Police say during their initial sweep of home, officers discovered an IED device in the kitchen area along with additional bomb making material. The pipe bomb along with a wick and end caps attached caused authorities to issue a shelter in place order for homes between McClintock and Andrew and evacuation of neighboring homes. The all clear was given when it was found the device posed no immediate danger. 37 year old Bill Fossett is facing multiple charges including Possession of explosive or an incendiary device, possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card and possession of methamphetamine.
