Urbana Man Arrested in Paxton On Child Sex Charges

An Urbana man was arrested in Paxton over the weekend on child sex charges, part of an ongoing undercover operation targeting online child predators.  According to Paxton police, 34 year old Kyle A. Smith began communicating on social media with an undercover officer posing as a teenager in October and arranged for a meeting on Saturday in the 800 block of South High Street where he was arrested.  Smith is charged with traveling to meet a minor solicitation of a child and criminal damage to state property after he allegedly damaged the quarter-panel of a squad car.
