Jacklin New Trial Request Denied

The Illinois Third District Appellate Court has denied an appeal from convicted retired Catholic Priest Richard Jacklin for a new trial.  Jacklin is doing 18 years for sexually assaulting a resident at Shapiro Developmental Center with an IQ of 47.  He was convicted in 2022.  attorneys for Jacklin, who served for a time at St Rose of Lima in Kankakee.  According to the Daily Journal, the defense argued that the prosecution failed to prove its original case, claimed the 18 years was excessive and the judge in the trial had wrongly barred evidence. The appeals court did not agree.
