Unemployment Down in October in Kankakee

The unemployment rate in Kankakee County fell for the second consecutive month in October.  The Illinois Department of Employment Security today puts the number at 5.4 percent, down a tenth of a point from September and lower that the 5.7 percent of a year ago.  The Champaign area had the lowest unemployment in the state last month at 3. at 9 percent, Danville has the highest jobless rate in the state at 6.2 percent.
