Good news if you’re starting your Thanksgiving holiday travel this weekend. Triple-A says gas prices are down from where they were a year ago at this time. Triple-A says the average cost for a gallon of regular no-lead gas is three-dollars-19 cents across the Land of Lincoln, that’s down 26 cents from where it was a year ago. Locally, that gallon of gas will set you back two-dollars-94 cents on average, down a quarter from year ago prices. Triple-A says gas is running 3.04 on average in Iroquois County, it’s 3.12 in Ford County and 3.07 in Grundy County.

Across the state line, Triple-A says a gallon of gas is running 2.89 a gallon in Newton County, it’s 3.06 in Benton County and 3.12 in Jasper County. Gas is running 3.94 a gallon on average across the Hoosier State.

Triple-A says  the nation-wide average for a gallon of gas is three-dollars and a nickle, down about 23 cents from last Thanksgiving.
