Cedar Lake Police Make a Gun Arrest

Cedar Lake police report a Country Club Hills man was arrested this morning after he allegedly disobeyed a school bus stop sign on Wicker Ave.  After officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle they ordered the driver, 31 year old Devonte J. Gilbert to exit the car.  Instead, Gilbert took off and led police on chase from Cedar Lake to St. John then into Schererville before police stop sticks brought the chase to an end.  Gilbert tried to run, but didn’t get far before being arrested.   Using a metal detector following his path, officers found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun. Inside the vehicle police say they found drugs, a holster and gun cleaning kit.  Gilbert is facing multiple charges.
