2 killed, 5 injured in New Year’s Day shooting

Two people were killed and five others wounded in an early New Year’s morning shooting in the 18-hundred block of Pierson Parkway. In a press release, Kankakee City Police say they were called to the home just after four Wednesday morning and when they got there, they found a large crowd of people at the house with many of them running from the home. Officers say four people were taken to the hospital from the scene and three gunshot victims showed up later at the area hospitals. Two of the victims, 22-year-old Quaysean T’Andre Isom of Kankakee and 20-year-old TreVontae C. Ellis of Pembroke Township later died of their wounds. City Police say they recovered two guns and spent shell casings at the scene and one suspect was found hiding in a near-by house.
