NICOR seeks rate hike

Nicor gas is seeking a 309-million-dollar rate hike.  If approved, consumer advocates say it would be a state-record rate increase.  Illinois’ largest gas utility asked for hike last week.  The Illinois Commerce Commission will rule on the request after an 11-month review.  Nicor serves much of northern Illinois and parts of western Illinois.
