Gov. J-B Pritzker signed the “Dignity in Pay Act” today (on Tuesday), which will end the state’s participation in the federal 14c certificate program.
The program allows businesses and other organizations to pay workers with disabilities less than the minimum wage based on the worker’s productivity and skill level.
A grant program and task force will help organizations with the transition, which will eliminate 14c certificates by the end of 20-29.
