A routine traffic stop in Jasper County over the weekend ended with the driver being shot and killed by a deputy after an altercation broke between the two as the deputy attempted to arrest the driver. It happened on State Road 14 near the Pulaski County Line Sunday afternoon around 4:15. Indiana State Police are handling the investigation and say they did discover a firearm in the driver’s vehicle. The Jasper County Coroner’s office identifies the victim as 42 year old Matthew W. Huttle of Hobart, Indiana. Police have not said why the Deputy was attempting to place Huttle under arrest. Huttle was reportedly one of those pardoned last week for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. The investigation continues.
