Driver Leads City Police on Chase

A 31 year old Kankakee man is facing drug and traffic charges today after leading police on a chase Monday morning around 7AM that began on 5^th Ave. and made its way to Court Street and then 8^th Avenue.  It ended when the pickup truck stopped in the 800 block of North 8^th just before striking a home. Two people bailed out, one of them, a woman was detained quickly, but the man got away.  Kankakee Police brought in a K9 team, they sniffed out Evan M. Hoekstra in a nearby home.  He was arrested without incident.  Police say inside the truck they found an unspecified amount of marijuana and other alleged drug paraphernalia.
