A moment of silence was held at last night’s City Council Meeting to remember the late Illinois Governor George Ryan. Mayor Chris Curtis said the passing of Ryan is a loss.
Mayor Curtis proposed during last night’s city council meeting to have Greenwood Avenue renamed to Honorary George H. Ryan Boulevard in Ryan’s honor. Visitation for Ryan is being held this afternoon from 4 to 7 at Schreffler funeral home in Kankakee. A memorial service is scheduled for Noon Thursday at Asbury United Methodist Church in Kankakee. Ryan died Friday at 91 years old.
