Woman allegedly attacked while shopping

Kankakee City Police are investigating after a woman said she was attacked while shopping at a business on East Court Street Tuesday evening. Reports say officers were called to the business in the 14-hundred block of East Court just before seven last night and spoke to the victim who said a woman had punched her and sprayed her with pepper spray while she was shopping. The victim identified her attacker as a woman sitting in a car outside the business. As officers spoke to the alleged offender, they say she threw something from the car, which turned out to be the victim’s cell phone. City Police say a review of surveillance footage showed the victim standing in line behind the suspect, when the suspect allegedly turned around and punched the victim in the face. The suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment.
