The latest map just released today by the US Drought Monitor puts about 96 percent of Kankakee County and all of Iroquois County in the “abnormally dry” category, with just four percent of Kankakee County considered to be in “moderate drought”. 49 percent of Ford County and 86 percent of Grundy County are considered to be “abnormally dry” with the rest of Ford County without any drought concern and just 14 percent of Grundy County considered to be in “moderate drought”. Meanwhile, 96 percent of Will County is still considered to be in “moderate drought: Across the state line, 86 percent of Newton County, 53 percent of Jasper County and 15 percent of Benton County is considered to be “abnormally dry” with the rest of those counties considered to still be in “moderate drought”. The new map includes information gathered by the US Drought Monitor through Tuesday of this week.
