A shots fired call led Kankakee City Police to confiscate a few guns last night. According to a police report, officers were called to a home in the 300 block of South Chicago Avenue just before 9:30 last night in reference to shots being fired. When police arrived at the home, the resident told officers she was trying to flip the safety switch button to safe on her shotgun sitting in her lap when a round fired off and went through the coffee table in the living room. Officers learned the resident had a suspended FOID card and an active order of protection. The resident complied with officers handing over her shotgun, ammunition, and a .22 rifle located in one of the bedrooms. The resident was not injured and her children were not present at the house. Both guns were run through dispatch and came back clear.
