The Rural Notebook: Saturdays at 6:45am

Kent Casson has been providing ag news to listeners and readers throughout Central Illinois via The Central Illinois Farm Network since 2010. He is currently heard on radio stations in Bloomington-Normal and Gibson City in addition to the on-demand audio at the CIFN website found at http://www.centralillinoisfarmnetwork.com. He actively farms with his father on their grain operation in Livingston and McLean counties and owns Casson Media which features local news and sports coverage in small communities.

A 28-year radio veteran in Central Illinois, Kent started working in high school for WPOK-WJEZ radio in Pontiac where he worked for 15 years in various capacities, including news and program director. He also worked as Livingston County news correspondent for WJBC-AM in Bloomington. He produces and hosts a weekly oldies show on WGCY 106.3 FM in Gibson City on Friday afternoons and does freelance ag writing for local newspapers.

When he’s not working, Kent enjoys spending time with his wife, Rebecca, and three children, Kasen, Kenadee and Kaislee on their farm in rural Fairbury.
