TX trucker caught with illegal drugs
Illinois State Police report the arrest of a Spring Texas truck driver after he was allegedly caught with nearly 40 pounds of cocaine in his truck. In a press release, State Police say troopers stopped the truck driven by 63-year-old Dwayne B. Cook just before 3:30 Saturday morning during a motor carrier safety inspection on I-57 near Chebanse. A search of the truck allegedly turned up some 15 kilo sized bundles of the illegal drug. Cook was taken into custody by the State Police and Kankakee Area Metropolitan Group Agents for controlled substance trafficking and intent to deliver a controlled substance.

 

Powerball rolls over again
The Powerball jackpot has rolled over once again.  There was no grand prize winner on Monday night, pushing the already-massive jackpot up to an estimated 643-million dollars.  Taking the cash option on that would net you nearly 291-million bucks.  Of course striking it rich is anything but easy.  Odds of walking away with all that money are roughly one in 292-million.  The next drawing takes place Wednesday.

Job fair in Momence Wednesday
A free job fair will be held in Momence tomorrow. With the details is coordinator of workforce opportunities at Kankakee Community College, Cesar Avalos.

The First United Methodist Church is located at 111 West 4th Street in Momence. The job fair is free. All you have to do is show up with your resume.

 

Bourbonnais passes gaming cafe ordinances
A series of ordinances were passed at last night’s Bourbonnais Village Board meeting regarding a pair of gaming cafes planned for the Village. Bourbonnais Mayor Jeff Keast

Mayor Keast said there were some changes to the liquor license ordinance for those facilities as well

Keast added applications for future gaming cafes in the Village will be handled by the Board on a case-by-case basis.

Also at last night’s meeting the Board named Village Finance Director Tara Latz as the new Village Treasurer. Latz replaces Ron Riebe who recently passed away.
