Small fire at Shapiro being investigated

Kankakee City Fire Department personnel responded to a small fire at Shapiro Developmental Center on the City’s south side Wednesday afternoon. Reports say there was a small fire in the central laundry that was pretty much taken care of by Shapiro staff and the building’s sprinkler system. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is being investigated by State Police.
