Shots Fired in Kankakee early Sunday Morning

Kankakee City Police report an incident where shots were fired in the city early Sunday morning. According to reports, it was just before one yesterday morning when officers were called to the 11-hundred block of East Court Street for a report of shots fired. Officers were told a white SUV was seen leaving the scene. Law enforcement was given the license plate number for the SUV, which was found a short time later, but the driver took off at a high rate of speed when officers tried to stop the car. Police say eight spent shell casings were found in a parking lot nearby. Reports say a blue SUV was found nearby which had sustained heavy damage from gunfire, which they believe to have been from a separate incident. City Police continue to investigate.
