Another Case of Legionnaires’ Disease Diagnosed at Shapiro

Another case of Legionnaires’ disease has been diagnosed at Shapiro. State officials confirmed the second case of the disease on Tuesday. This makes the second case of the disease to be diagnosed at the State-run facility. Legionnaires’ disease is a severe form of pneumonia that’s caused by the Legionella bacteria which can grow in building water systems. The state has not released the condition of either person, citing privacy laws.
