Fire in Gibson City Damages Apartment Building

Gibson City Fire Department personnel were called to an apartment fire over the weekend. In a press release, Gibson City Fire Chief Bruce Kallal says it was just after nine Saturday morning when firefighters were called to an apartment in the building on Melvin Street in Gibson City. When they got there, firefighters found moderate smoke and a small fire that had been inside the apartment had been put out by the building’s sprinkler system. There was fire, water and smoke damage to the apartment and surrounding apartments. Damage estimates put at about 20-thousand dollars. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
