The man accused of the “execution style” murder of a Momence woman is on his way to Illinois. 47-year-old Julius E Burkes Junior of Hammond, Indiana waved extradition at a hearing this morning in a Lake County, Indiana courtroom. Burkes was arrested Tuesday afternoon, a little over a day after he allegedly entered The Line bar on Route 114 east of Momence, pulled a gun and demanded 30-year-old Courtney Drysdale turn over the cash from the till. Kankakee County Sheriff Mike Downey says Drysdale handed over the cash, but Burkes allegedly shot and killed her anyway. Burkes waiving extradition means he should be back in Kankakee County in the next day or so to be charged with the murder.
